Switching accountants

When you need to change your accountant, both your current and new accountant need to take specific actions in Banqup. Here's what needs to happen for a smooth transition.

For businesses

If you're switching to a new accountant:

  1. Inform your current accountant about the change and ask him to archive you as a client. This removes their access to your data.

  2. Your new accountant has to invite you as a client (and you’ll have to accept the invitation).

For accountants

Current accountant

When a client moves to a new accountant:

  1. Go to Clients.

  2. Find the client.

  3. Click Archive.

New accountant

To start working with your new client:

  1. Go to Clients.

  2. Click Add client.

  3. Enter client details.

  4. Send invitation.

Note: Document history remains accessible to the business.

FAQ

Will archiving delete any data?

No, archiving only removes the connection between accountant and client. All documents remain intact in the business space, the accountant no longer has access to the client’s Business space.

Can we switch back to the previous accountant?

Yes, the previous accountant can send a new invitation if needed.

What happens to existing integrations?

Integrations with the previous accountant will be disconnected when they archive you. The new accountant will need to set up their own integrations.
