Understanding client statuses in your Partner space

Written by Maxime
Updated this week

Every client you manage in your Partner space has a status. These statuses show you exactly where a client is in the relationship: whether they're a new lead, waiting on an invitation, fully active, or no longer linked. Knowing what each status means helps you take the right next step.

What do the client statuses mean?

  • Draft
You've added this business to your client list, but haven't sent an invitation yet. Draft clients are essentially leads. You can prepare their setup (subscription, integrations, users) before you invite them. Clients in Draft status don't have an active subscription yet.

  • Invited
You've sent the invitation. The client should have received an email prompting them to create or link their Banqup space. They stay in this status until they complete onboarding using the invitation link.

  • Active
The client has accepted the invitation, completed onboarding, and consented to the link with your Partner space. This is the working state.

  • Invitation rejected The invitation couldn't be completed because the business you invited already has an existing Banqup space. This only applies to referral partners, who can only invite new businesses to Banqup.

  • Access rejected
A rare status. Banqup's back-office team rejected the invite following an identity verification (KYC) check. If this happens, reach out to Banqup support for guidance.

  • Archived
You've removed the link with the client from your side. They still appear under the Inactive tab in your client list, but you no longer have access to their data or documents, and subscriptions managed by your firm are ended. You can either re-invite them to restore the relationship or delete the reference entirely.

  • Lost
The client ended the relationship from their side by removing the link to your Partner space. Like Archived, they still appear in your inactive list, but the data connection and subscriptions are ended. You can re-invite them or delete the reference if you no longer need it.

Tip

Both Archived and Lost clients can be re-invited. Go to the Inactive tab, find the client, and use the invite action. It follows the same flow as inviting a Draft client.

How statuses change

A client moves through statuses based on actions taken by you or by the client themselves:

FAQ

My client is marked as invited despite having accepted the invitation. Why?

Maybe they did not fully complete the steps for accepting the invitation or onboarded independently from your invitation link. In this case, resend an invitation to your client, and share this guide with them to make sure they complete all the steps: Accepting an invitation from my accountant
