When you send a document over Peppol and it cannot be delivered, Banqup shows the exact reason in the delivery banner at the top of the document. This article explains what each message means and what you can do to get your document delivered.
You will find these documents in the In review tab, with a Delivery failed or Delivery rejected status. For how those statuses work, see Understanding sales invoice statuses.
First thing to try: resend
Some delivery failures are temporary. If the banner asks you to retry, use the Resend action on the document. If it still fails after a resend, match the message below to find the cause.
The recipient can't be found or isn't set up
"Delivery failed: The recipient is not registered on the Peppol network. Please verify their Peppol registration."
The person you are sending to is not reachable on Peppol. Check that they are registered, and confirm the identifier you used (company number or VAT number) is correct. If they are not on Peppol, you will need to send the document another way.
"Delivery failed: The recipient does not support this specific document type. Please ask the recipient to register this document type with their Peppol service provider."
The recipient is on Peppol, but their setup does not accept this kind of document. Ask them to register that document type with their own Peppol service provider, then resend.
"Delivery failed: The recipient does not contain enough identification data to resolve a Peppol participant ID. Please provide a valid Peppol participant identifier or a supported country-specific identifier."
Banqup does not have enough information about the recipient to find them on the network. Open the customer or supplier and add a valid Peppol identifier, or a supported country-specific identifier such as their company number, then resend.
The recipient's identifier scheme needs updating (Belgian recipients)
"Delivery failed: The recipient is not registered on the Peppol network under the VAT scheme (9925). However, they are registered under the Belgian Enterprise Number (CBE) scheme (0208). Please update the recipient's scheme ID in your ERP/UBL to 0208 and resend."
The recipient is registered on Peppol under their Belgian enterprise number (CBE), not under their VAT number. You are sending to their VAT number, so it cannot be matched. Use their company number instead of their VAT number as the Peppol identifier, then resend.
A temporary network problem (just resend)
These messages mean something went wrong in transit rather than with your document. Use the Resend action to retry; they usually clear on a second attempt.
"Delivery failed: Temporary network issue with the recipient's SMP server. Please use the 'Resend' action to retry."
"Delivery failed: The recipient's access point did not acknowledge the message. Please use the 'Resend' action to retry."
"Delivery failed: A network or protocol-level failure occurred. Please use the 'Resend' action to retry."
If the same temporary error keeps coming back after several resends over a few hours, contact us through the messenger so we can check the connection to the recipient's provider.
A problem with the document itself
"Failed to create required document representation."
Banqup could not build the file it needs to send. Open the document and check it is complete and valid, then try again. If it keeps failing, contact us through the messenger.
"The report was not submitted due to failed validation."
The document did not pass the validation checks required before it can be submitted. Review the document details for anything missing or incorrect, correct it, and resend.
"The file is rejected by the receiver and will not be processed further."
The recipient's side rejected the document, and it will not be retried automatically. Check with the recipient what they expected, correct the document if needed, and send a new one.
"Unhandled or unknown error not mapped to any specific category."
This is a general error without a specific cause. Try resending once. If it fails again, contact us through the messenger so we can look into it.
