Banqup is switching its debit cards from Mastercard to Visa. This FAQ explains what happens to your current Mastercard, when your Visa card arrives, and what you need to do.
What is changing?
Since 1 October 2026, every new Banqup debit card is a Visa card. Existing Mastercards are replaced by Visa cards before the end of 2026.
Your Visa card works the same way as your Mastercard. It stays linked to the same payment account.
Your Visa card keeps the name, the spending and withdrawal limits, and the Pay abroad, Online transactions and Contactless payments settings of your Mastercard.
Do I need to order a Visa card?
No. We send you a Visa card automatically in early November 2026. You do not need to do anything until it arrives.
What about virtual cards?
When a virtual Mastercard is replaced, you get a virtual Visa card in the app straight away. Your virtual Mastercard stops working at the same moment, so update your card details for online payments right away.
Where will my Visa card be delivered?
We send it to the delivery address of your current Mastercard.
If you have moved since you received your Mastercard, change the address yourself before early November.
I have moved. How do I get my Visa card at my new address?
Request a replacement card in the Banqup One app and enter your new address. Your replacement is a Visa card.
Update the Banqup One app to the latest version first (version 5.23.2 or later).
On the home screen, tap Payment accounts.
Under My cards, open your Mastercard.
Tap Settings.
Under Card actions, tap Replace card.
Select My card is damaged, then tap Continue.
Tap Continue again.
On the Delivery screen, turn off Use billing address, enter your new address and tap Continue.
On the Payment details screen, turn on the confirmation and tap Add card.
Tip
To see which version of the app you have, tap Menu, then About Banqup under System & support. The version is shown below the list of links.
You can also request the replacement card on the Banqup web app.
Your Mastercard keeps working until you activate the Visa card.
Note: At step 7, the app tells you that the new card keeps the same card number and PIN code. Your PIN code does stay the same, but your Visa card has a new card number, expiry date and CVV.
How long does delivery take?
Your Visa card arrives about 5 working days after it is sent.
How do I activate my Visa card?
Activate it in the Banqup One app as soon as you receive it.
On the home screen, tap Payment accounts.
Under My cards, tap your new Visa card. Its status shows Activate.
Tap Activate card.
Enter the card number and the 3-digit CVV printed on your Visa card.
Confirm.
Your Visa card is ready to use. You keep the PIN code of your Mastercard.
Important: Once your Visa card is active, your Mastercard stops working. Use your Visa card from then on.
Until when can I use my Mastercard?
Until you activate your Visa card, or until 7 December 2026 at the latest. On that date, all remaining Mastercards are terminated and can no longer be used.
You can still activate your Visa card after 7 December 2026.
Do I need to update my card details for online subscriptions and saved payments?
Yes. Your Visa card has a new card number, expiry date and CVV. Update your card details with every shop or service that charges your card regularly, such as subscriptions or saved payment methods.
