What's new for businesses - August 2026

Written by Maxime

This month adds a second approval step for purchase documents, bulk approval for purchase receipts, a Drafts tab inside Sales invoices, a way to fix invoices that used to get stuck, and a full document history for each of your business partners. Here's what's new.

New features

Add a second approval step to your purchase documents

You can now split purchase approval across two people, which is useful when a first pair of eyes checks the invoice and someone else signs it off.

  • A user with the Purchase assistant role does the first approval. The document moves to Awaiting final approval and the Approve button disappears for them.

  • A user with the Purchase responsible role then opens the document and uses Approve to complete it.

  • Awaiting final approval is available as a filter, so you can see everything waiting on a final sign-off.

  • Self-billing invoices and invoices from a Trusted supplier skip both steps, exactly as before.

Approve purchase receipts in bulk

Select several purchase receipts straight from the list and approve them in one action instead of opening each one.

  • If some of the receipts you selected are not ready, a confirmation window tells you how many will be approved and how many will be skipped, before anything happens.

  • When the run finishes, a summary shows what went through and what did not. You can open any failed receipt in a new tab and fix it right away.

Your sales invoice drafts, inside Sales invoices

Sales invoices has its own Drafts tab, next to In review, Unpaid, Paid and All. You no longer need to switch to another app to pick a draft back up.

  • Double-click any document in Drafts to open it in the editor.

  • When you finish or leave a draft, you land back in the app you started from, whether that was Sales invoices or Document Creator.

Fix invoices that used to get stuck

When you upload or email in an invoice that contains errors, the document is no longer locked. Banqup reprocesses it as a standard PDF and gives it the Reprocessed status in your Inbox and in the document history.

From there you move it to Awaiting validation, correct the data on screen, and save. Banqup then builds a fresh electronic file from your corrections, and your original document stays stored in the file history untouched.

Invoices that arrive over the Peppol network are the exception: they keep following the strict Peppol validation rules and are not reprocessed this way.

Improvements

  • See the original PDF of a purchase invoice
Purchase invoices open the same way as sales invoices do. Use the PDF toggle in the action bar to see the document exactly as your supplier laid it out, in the main detail view rather than tucked away in the attachments panel. If no preview exists yet, switching the toggle on creates one for you. → Read more

  • Peppol activation runs in the background
Activating the Peppol connector no longer makes you wait on a single screen. A Publishing status shows while your registration is being processed, and you can already send invoices during this time. Receiving invoices starts working once the Peppol directory has synchronised, usually within 24 hours. The field previously labelled "ID" is called Participant ID, with tooltips giving examples per country so you know which identifier to enter. → Read more

  • Two more payment methods, and fewer things to retype
Standing agreement and Clearing between partners are selectable as payment methods in business partner settings, in Document Creator and in the document details. On top of that, Mark as paid picks up the payment method already on the document, so a document flagged as a card payment arrives pre-filled. Incoming e-invoices that carry custom payment codes are also mapped more accurately onto Banqup's own payment methods, which keeps your lists and filters free of duplicates. → Read more

  • Search runs when you ask it to
In Sales invoices, Purchase invoices, Purchase receipts, Sales quotes and Outbound payments, results are fetched when you press Enter or click the search icon, instead of firing on every keystroke. Text searches still need at least three characters, but you can search an amount or a numeric reference with fewer. When a search returns more than 1,000 results, the counter shows 999+ rather than an exact total. → Read more

  • Your filters stay put when you switch tabs
Moving between tabs such as Drafts and Paid keeps your search term and your active filters, including date ranges and labels. The tab counters follow your filters too, so they show how many documents match what you are looking for rather than the category total. The search bar sits above the tabs to make that clear. → Read more

  • Clearer reasons when a document or a payment fails
When a document cannot reach its recipient over Peppol, the activities window names the reason, for example that the recipient is not registered or that their platform does not support the document type, instead of showing an error code. For the more complex cases, hovering the information icon gives you the full explanation and what to do next. Error messages about an IBAN from the wrong country are fully translated as well. → Read more

  • Get told what to do when a customer has no delivery channel
Saving a document for a customer who has no active delivery method no longer leaves you guessing. The Edit delivery channels window states that no channel is available and points you to Network connectors to activate the one you need. → Read more

  • Reset and customise your quote numbering
If your quote numbering was locked or stuck on a migrated series, you can unlock it from the Document Creator settings with the reset function. From there you can change the prefix, restart the sequence at 1, and set the pattern you actually want. → Read more

  • Long payment references no longer block a payment
Payment references are limited to 35 characters, and an invoice carrying a longer one used to fail at payment time and had to be edited by hand. Banqup now checks the reference when the payment is executed, warns you, and offers a shortened version. You can accept that suggestion or type your own reference, and the payment goes through. → Read more

  • Your payment carries the invoice number when there is no reference
If an invoice has no structured payment reference, the Message field in the payment window used to show a dash. It now falls back to the invoice number, so your supplier can still recognise what the transfer is for. → Read more

  • Balances and movements that refresh themselves, and filtering by amount
A change to your balance shows up straight away everywhere your balance is displayed, and the transaction table picks up new movements as they arrive. When you come back from completing a payment, the payment status window updates itself as soon as the transaction is processed. Account movements can also be filtered by amount, so you can find a specific transaction without scrolling. → Read more

  • Reconciliation catches up with documents you marked as paid
If a real bank transaction arrives that matches the date and amount of a document you had marked as paid yourself, Transaction radar proposes the match instead of ignoring it. Accept it and the manual status is replaced by a verified link to the bank transaction. Reject it and the document goes safely back to Mark as paid. Alongside this, credit notes with a negative amount can be marked as paid without an error, and when a credit note comes in against an invoice you had marked as paid, the payment status and balances are corrected for you. → Read more

  • Paste an IBAN exactly as you see it
The IBAN field on a business partner accepts spaces, so you can copy bank details straight off an invoice or a bank statement and Banqup handles the formatting. For a business partner of the type Person, delivery is limited to Email and the Peppol option is hidden, since Peppol does not apply to individuals. → Read more
